Hannah's Album

This is my first major album that I have completed. I made this album for my firstborn, Hannah. It highlights all the major things she did within her first year of life. Hannah was born October 27, 2007. I completed this album when she was 17 months old. Now I am working on an album for my 7 month old baby girl, Amelia. Let's see if I will get done within the next 10 months. Do you think I can do it? Below are a bunch of my favorite layouts, within Hannah's album.

Creative Memories

I am proud to announce that I am now an Independent Consultant for Creative Memories! I am very excited and am looking forward to having a lot of fun with this new business venture. One of my goals is to host a monthly scrap night. No sales pressure. Just a night for ladies to get out and use their creativity for some fun. I will be sharing my latest projects as well as dates and times for scrapbooking events on here. Challenge 180: My Favorite Color

Instead of literally drawing with my favorite color, I choose to draw something of my favorite color. Green... what better green object is there in this world but a plant. I think plants share the truest form of green possible. I am pleased with my small houseplant sketch. 

Challenge 179: Onion

Here is my response to EDM's challenge 179 (draw an onion). I tried to keep this sketch lose, but I think I got a little uptight in areas such as the shadows.  There are too many different line values that aren't consistent through the whole drawing. This inconsistency causes the drawing to look unfinished or perhaps even a bit unbalanced. Maybe I am being to critical... you tell me.

Hannah's Favorite Toys

And so I begin to share current works of art.

Here is a small sketch of my baby girl's favorite toys. Very simple... Curious George and some links. This little set up was fun and very relaxing to study. Nothing to complex, just fun.

Living Room Furniture

This is a 2006 sketch of my parent's living room furniture. I believe I did a fair amount of cross-hatching and single line marks. The long couch looks soft and comfortable. I enjoy how I drew the couch on the left side in a basic outline. Making that decision allows the eye to move around the sketch more easily; not getting caught in a jungle of lines. 

A negative for this sketch I would say is the middle of the coffee table. My eyes get lost in all the confusing marks I made when you get towards the middle of the table. It totaly messes with the balance of the page.

Zoe Sleeping

I am proud of this drawing merely because I was able to draw my families hyper dog, Zoe. I found her snoozing in my messy bed, and managed to capture such a peaceful moment. Zoe is a Jack Russell Terrier, a bread known for it's energetic personality. 

Instead of cross-hatching I tried using different variations of vertical lines to depict shading. Again, I am not to sure about the wall. I need to do a study of walls. I am never confident when it comes to drawing a basic wall. I always seems to make random marks which do nothing but distract and or confuse the viewer.
